A fren was asking me if i write anything philosophical in my blog. Well i don't think i have anything philosophical in here. So here's my shot at it.
There's something that baffles me.
It is something that we use everyday without giving much thought to it. Maybe we've gotten so used to it that we have forgotten to appreciate the beauty and mysterious origins of it. One day, i was sitting in a lecture (if my memory does not fail me) daydreaming and looking around the lecture theatre when suddenly out of boredom, i looked down at my hands.

It was at that moment that i felt that i was looking at my hands for the first time. The stump-like protrusion called the thumb. The curves that lead one finger on to the other. The way it moves as we want it to. opening closing, closing and opening.
I know you must be thinking "girl you are wack! They are your hands la! Your fingers la! Never see fingers before issit?? SIAO!"
Yes it is pretty freaky, if your frend suddenly turns to you and say don't you think our hands are most facinating ? (i told my fren that) But if you really stop and observe our hands for a minute, you'll find that our hands are indeed beautiful.
Why are our hands shaped in this way and not that?? Were they previously shaped in this manner? Or were they moulded into what we see today through evolution. why do we even need fingers ? Maybe we can use it as efficiently even without them? Why do we have five and not six or seven.
<===Why could it not look like that?
I'm sure we did not need to write in the ancient days? It'll probably be more useful. It could be a fly-swatter or be good for swimming.
Or could it be that our hands were just the way it were millions of years ago? I recall watching Friends and joey tribiani was making a big din abt how his hands were so unique and that he wanted to create a business with just his two hands. It was ridiculous of course but the point that our hands is the most useful thing besides our legs did get through to me. It'll be really interesting to speculate what our hands will look like a billion years frm now. Will it remain unchanged or will it evolve to suit our future needs? I guess we may never know.
Pardon me if it sounds like senseless rambling. and nope i do not have an obsession with my hands thank you!
